Hi all,

I want to modify the preferences in U10. But I can’t find it….

According to the help:  “Choose Utilities ► Preferences ► …..

I don’t see where I can choose utilities….

Hi Peter,

AFAIK, in the 10.2 there are neither “additional menu” nor “preferences” available.
So it seems to be impossible to compile and request info messages (without clever tricks).

So we have to set our hope on 10.3 (see blog from Mike Taylor).

Greetings from Frankfurt/Germany on Netherlands Election day,
Uli

Hi Peter, indeed, there is no longer a way to set preferences via the UI in Uniface 10. Most references to Utilities>Preferences were removed in 10.2 (although I notice that there is still one left. I’ll see that it gets fixed.Confused)

Currently, IDE preferences can only be set in assignment files and Uniface IDE Preferences in the Uniface Library 10.2.

/all /inf /war /lis{= 1 | 2}   …should do the trick, I suppose. If not redirected in ASN files (like in plain standard Uniface installation), the list files will pop-up in your standard project directory.

And like Barbara indicates there are some preferences that can be set in either the IDE.asn or the usys.ini. Please see paragraph Uniface IDE -> Uniface IDE Preferences in the help file.

Regards,
Arjen

Hi Arjen,

unfortunately, the /inf switch is NOT respected in the compile started INSIDE the developent environment while the /LIS is doing its job.

I do not see it as progress that instead of compiling/testing/debugging from ine the IDF as used to in U9,
I have to open up a new process (and remember and retype the formname) to get a complete compile in U10.

I know you have plenty of things to fix / enhance – but a statement springs to mind here
(cue tounge-in-cheek gif); “made by developers for developers”
I presume you have locked down the work benches for the developers in the lab
so they cannot change the default / “Microsoft knows best” default setup in VS?Wink

Hi Uli,

I believe the post you are referring to is UNIFACE 10 QUESTIONS. The Additional menu is on the radar, however, there are steps we need to take before we get there – it is not planned to be included in the initial release of 10.3.01.

Currently, the plan for the 10.3.01 release is to include:

  • Stabilizing the repository structure
  • Create table functionality
  • umeta.xml

Most of the work in stabilizing the repository is to lay the foundation for Work Area Support. With a stable repository, we will again be able to publish its structure and supply the export for use in your own environments – a big step towards allowing utilities to created for use against the repository. Any utilities created will, initially, be available from the command line and your own startup shells.
